Used Lotus Europa

The used Lotus Europa is a two door, middle engine GT Coupe that is built by the Lotus Group. The car was in production at the Lotus factories between 1966 and 1975. 2006 found the Lotus Group putting a new Lotus Elise design into production calling it the Lotus Europa S.

The original Europa was based around Colin Chapman’s steel backbone chassis which was produced with minimal material. This kind of car producing was first used in one of Lotus’s older models the Lotus Elan which also was reliant on the fibre glass for its structural strength.

The used Lotus Europa was originally designed and built as a simplified car. Colin Chapman used his philosophy which was based around making the car simple and then add lightness to the overall finished product.

The earlier versions of the Lotus Europa saw a four wheel independent suspension, the rear suspension was used as a modified part in many Formula racing car designs of the Lotus Group.
