Lotus is a well known car producer that is based in Norfolk, England.  The Headquarters of the Lotus Group is based on a former World War Two airfield at RAF Hethel. The Lotus Group produces and also designs race cars as well as roadworthy cars that you see today. Lotus owns Lotus Engineering who are based in many countries in the United Kingdom, United States, Malaysia and China.

Lotus was purchased by Proton when the former owners Romano Artoli filed for bankruptcy in 1994.

The company was first formed in 1952 as Lotus Engineering Ltd. Colin Chapman who was a graduate of the London University College invented the company who was based in a old stable block behind a Railway Hotel in Hornsey.
